The Orangerie

The Orangerie was literally a glass house built to grow Orange trees during the cold months indoors. There are many in France - amoung the areas of Royalty. In the early 1900's Monet painted his famous waterlilies which were created to be in two special rooms to be built within the old Orangerie. The affect is calm, lovely and fabulous! I encourage you to look at the website and enjoy their photos to music!

In the lower level of the Orangerie, a collection of famous paintings once owned by the art dealer Paul Guillaume are displayed. The combination of these lovely paintings and the water lilies, allowed this to be our favorite muesum of famous paintings. And it's much calmer than the Louvre!
Here are a few Renoir paintings, a favorite of Allegra and Emily.....

And a few of Dan's favorites.....(sorry painter's name forgotten in this moment)
